Year 1 and 2's Experience Victorian Toys

As part of the year 1 and 2's topic on toys, they had an afternoon exploring Victorian Toys.  They found some were similar to games they play now and others took a lots of practice.

Skipping Games

Team work was needed as we had to jump together.

Acrobat monkey Game

Cup and Ball Game

This was tricky but the more we practiced the better we got.

           The Diablo

Kirsten and Elijah had fun with the Yo-yo.

Marbles

The children learnt some of the tactics to get ahead of their friends.

The Early Years Visit Kedleston Fish Bar

As the Early Years have currently got a Fish and Chip shop in their role-play area we thought it was important to go and see how a real chip shop runs.  Sampling the food was of course necessary too!

 First we checked the menu...

...then we looked at the range of foods that were being cooked.

The lady told us all about how they made the chips and cooked the fish before taking out order.

We had to wait patiently as 19 potions of fish and chips takes a little bit of time to cook!

Snow!

The children (and teachers) in the Early Years had great fun playing in the snow today!

We worked as a team to build a snowman:

We rolled the snow to make big snow balls...

pressed the snow together...

and added a few finishing touches!
